Jamestown man facing rape charges

A Jamestown man has been taking in custody on rape charges.

On Sunday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a suspicious situation. An investigation was conducted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division and the New York State Police.

The next day the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office charged Richard Lafrance, 33, of Forest Avenue Extension with two counts of second-degree rape, three counts of second-degree criminal sexual act, and first-degree sexual abuse. The alleged incidents took place in the towns of Sheridan and Ellery.

Lafrance is being held without bail at the Chautauqua County Jail.
