Unauthorized driver crashes Fredonia ambulance
A Fredonia Fire Department ambulance is apparently out of commission after it was involved in an accident around 3 a.m. New Year’s Day.
According to a number of sources, the ambulance was responding to a call in the village when an unidentified subject and unauthorized driver got into the vehicle and drove away from the scene.
Law-enforcement officials caught up with the vehicle that crashed into a sign near the Central Avenue entrance of the State University of New York at Fredonia.
The ambulance was towed away and is not currently usable.
As for the person who crashed the ambulance, it is unknown if charges have been filed or the person is still in custody.
Fredonia police were contacted this afternoon but did not comment on the incident.
