Forestville woman pleads guilty to scamming bank customers

BUFFALO — Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn has announced that 35-year-old Breanna Rohauer of Forestville pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to six counts of third-degree grand larceny, class “D” felonies, and one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, a class “E” felony. The defendant pleaded guilty on Thursday.

Between Nov. 17, 2017 and Feb. 4, 2019, Rohauer, while employed as a teller at a local bank in Hamburg, admitted that she made unauthorized withdrawals from the bank accounts of several elderly customers, totaling $124,736 in fraudulent transactions. The victims were reimbursed by the bank.

Rohauer faces a maximum of 46 years in prison when she is sentenced on May 13 at 9:30 a.m.

DA Flynn commends Detective Widman of the Town of Hamburg Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Candance K. Vogel of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit.
