Staffing troubles forcing Gowanda to go remote

The district recently qualified under the Community Eligibility Program that pays districts whose percentage of students that are in programs like Medicaid, Medicare and SNAP is higher than 40 percent. Gowanda, as of April 1, was at 45.59 percent.
GOWANDA — Complications that come with a lack of staffing is forcing one area school to move to remote learning until after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Starting today, Gowanda Central Schools is moving to remote instruction, according to a memo from Superintendent Dr. Robert Anderson. “As of the moment, we will return to 100% in-person on Monday, Nov 29,” he wrote. “We do not at the moment have enough staff in critical areas to operate the school district fully in-person.”
