Wildflower Walk deadline is today
On Sunday, the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will hold its annual Mother’s Day Wildflower Walk at the Bentley Nature Preserve, located on Bentley Avenue off Fluvanna Avenue Extensiona nd Route 430.
This year, the conservancy is offering two group walking times, the first starting at noon led by local naturalist Jack Gulvin and the second starting at 2 p.m. led by Board President Becky Nystrom. These leisurely walks will follow the beautiful Pamela A. Westrom Nature Trail, where tour leaders and walkers will seek out the numerous wildflowers, ferns and other natural treasures commonly encountered in the region in springtime.
Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and for the typical wet or muddy conditions of a wooded wetland. Space is limited, and advance registration is required and can be made by calling 716-664-2166 or emailing info@chautauquawatershed.org by 4 p.m. today with the number of participants and a contact name and phone number. A $5 per individual or $10 per family donation is suggested for non-members.
