Forestville announces new hires

FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Central School District has three new teachers to join the Hornets’ nest.

Krista Lennertz and Cassandra Essek were hired as teachers at the Elementary School, while Zachary Bills was hired as a Music Teacher for the district. All three appointments are probationary, each commencing Aug. 30, 2023 and ending Aug. 29, 2027, at which point the teachers may be offered tenured positions in the district, if the district so chooses. Forestville Superintendent Dr. John O’Connor recommended each hire to the Board of Education.

The Board of Education also authorized O’Connor to enter into an agreement with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department for a school resource officer for the 2023-24 school year. The cost is $104,125.

The district also hired Nicole Nopper as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, with a six-month probationary period that concludes at the end of February 2024. Brenda Schneider was also appointed as School Secretary.

Additionally, Kris Richter was appointed as Head Bus Driver on a probationary period lasting the 2023-24 school year. Elementary teacher Kelly Raichel was appointed as a teacher on a Special Assignment.

Janey Thompson and Melissa Schwerk each successfully completed their 120-day probationary period and were appointed as permanent Floater Monitor Aides. Cori Coia was hired as a probationary Floater Monitor Aide, with the probationary period anticipated to end March 14, 2024. EvaRose Wienke was also approved as an uncertified Floater Monitor Aide.

The district also approved the resignations of Emily Scott, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant; Alexander Szymanski, Floater Monitor Aide; and Jessica Howes, Floater Monitor Aide.
