Thirty years ago — 1993

MacKenzie Malcolm, formerly of Fredonia and now living in Moscow, was interviewed by Channel 2 anchorman Rick Kellman about the recent turmoil in Russia. Ms. Malcolm, who has been working several months for a restaurant and hotel in Moscow, has an apartment across the street from the Russian Parliament. She stated that she believes Russian President Boris Yeltsin has the support of everyone in that country and she now feels safe. MacKenzie is the daughter of John and Linda Malcolm of Fredonia.

Forty years ago — 1983

A farewell reception for the Rev. Timothy Kelley, associate pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church was held Oct. 9 in the school hall. Father Kelley, who has been stationed at the Dunkirk parish for five years, will leave before the end of the month for his new assignment in Tampa, Fla.

Fifty years ago — 1973

Doris Stupcy, Mary Janik and Stella Cieslewicz, all of Dunkirk, have returned from a four-week tour of Poland. The women visited relatives there.
