Dunkirk man busted twice in 6 hours

A Dunkirk man allegedly went on a mini-crime spree June 30, getting arrested twice in about six hours.

At around 5:46 p.m., Dunkirk police reportedly responded to an East Fourth Street business over an unwanted subject. The person, Gabriel Soto, 33, of Dunkirk, fled before police arrived. There was an active order of protection mandating that Soto stay away from an employee of the business, who was working at the time. Soto was previously trespassed from the business as well. Officers soon located Soto and charged him with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal contempt.

Later on June 30, at around 11:37 p.m., officers responded to Swan Street where it was determined that a resident confronted a man stealing items from his vehicle, but the man fled. The man was Soto, who was located and taken into custody a short time later.

The victim’s car keys were allegedly discovered on Soto, along with several other stolen items. Soto was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and petit larceny.

Starting at $3.50/week.
