Jamestown police are investigating a Sunday stabbing that has left a person dead.

On Sunday, May 3, around 4:30 a.m. city police officers responded to the area of Lakeview Avenue and East Eighth Street for a report of a stabbing victim. Once on scene, officers located an unresponsive person who had been stabbed. The person was taken to UPMC Chautauqua and then transported to UPMC Hamot via STAT MedEvac for life-threatening injuries. On Wednesday, May 6, the person succumbed to his injury sustained during the incident and was pronounced deceased while at UPMC Hamot.

At this time, the incident is under investigation and the victim’s name is being withheld until a later date.
