Politics is the only profession of which I am aware in which competence doesn't seem to matter. One can fail miserably; one can be corrupt and one can get away with crimes that if committed by someone outside of elective office, arrest, prosecution and a stint in jail would be the result. A sentence in Tuesday’s story on legislation that would limit ammunition purchases was incorrectly written. In an 89-45 vote on Thursday many Republicans voted against the A.7983, including Assemblymen Andrew Molitor, R-Westfield, and Joe Sempolinski, R-Canisteo. The current version (S.7236) was passed by a 49-11 vote. State Sen. George Borrello, R-Sunset Bay, was excused from the vote.
