Jamestown man indicted on assault charges

A 49-year-old Jamestown man was arraigned on an indictment announced Friday by the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office. Joseph Angelo is facing charges of predatory sexual assault against a child and course of sexual conduct against a child. He remained in Chautauqua County Jail on $35,000 bail, records show. Angelo was picked up on an arrest warrant in October 2021 on a first-degree rape charge for an incident that allegedly occurred with a juvenile in 2011, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office announced at the time. Six-year terms eyed for city of Dunkirk posts

The city of Dunkirk’s treasurer and assessor would each get longer terms under a proposal up for consideration today by the Common Council. The proposal would extend the terms of the two elected positions from two years to six years, the council’s agenda states. The change cannot be approved at today’s meeting. Because it would represent an alteration to city law, the Common Council must schedule a public hearing before approving it. New process starts for Brooks-TLC visitors
