Band playing in Mayville Park

Rustic Ramblers
MAYVILLE — The July 26 performance of the 2018 Entertainment in the Park Summer Concert Series will feature the traditional country sound of the band “Rustic Ramblers.” Taking place at Lakeside Park located on the shores of scenic Chautauqua Lake in the Village of Mayville, the concert will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Rustic Ramblers truly appreciate the traditional country music that America has always loved. Members of the band are Howard Buck, from Fredonia on lead guitar and lead vocals; Jimmy (Frito) Lanphere, also from Fredonia, on bass guitar and vocals; Dave Bailey, from Hartfield on drums and vocals; and Gene Hilts, from West Valley on peddle steel guitar. The group has over 200 years combined experience in performing traditional country music.
Rainbow the Clown (Jerry Stimson) will also be on hand to entertain the children with face painting and balloon sculptures. The Entertainment in the Park concert series is provided at no charge to the public through the generous sponsorship and support by the Town of Chautauqua and Village of Mayville.
In case of rain, the performance will take place at the Carlson Community Center also located at Lakeside Park, Mayville. Remember to bring your own seating to the outside performances. A 50/50 drawing will be held at all of the musical concerts this summer, with the winner announced just before the end of each performance. The Maple Springs Fire Department will be offering barbecue dinners for sale at the concerts for the benefit of their fire department. The Mayville Fire Department will also offer popcorn and water on a donation basis during the concerts benefiting their fire department. Your support of these two worthwhile organizations is greatly appreciated.
For more information on this long-held concert series or the Mayville-Chautauqua area, contact the Mayville/Chautauqua Community Chamber of Commerce, organizers of this concert series, at 753-3113. Plan on joining everyone at Lakeside Park on July 26 for a trip down memory lane of wonderful traditional and classic country music.
Group to perform on Cassadaga’s Floating Stage
On Sunday, July 29, the Rustic Ramblers will be performing on Cassadaga’s Floating Stage from 5-7 p.m.
These musicians call themselves a “group of “old geezers who like to keep the great sounds of classic country music alive.” In 2004, 4 musicians (with a combined total of experience that exceeds 200 years) brought their talent and adaptations of traditional country music together and formed “Rustic Ramblers.” They have been performing and delighting their audiences ever since.
These “old geezers” consist of Jim (Frito) Lamphere of Fredonia on electric bass and lead and harmony vocals, Dave Bailey of Hartfield on drums and lead and harmony vocals. Gene Hilts of West Valley plays electric pedal steel guitar and Howard Buck of Fredonia is on lead guitar and lead and harmony vocals.
This concert is sponsored by the Village of Cassadaga and is part of the Cassadaga Lake Summer Concert Series. Cassadaga’s Floating Stage is located at 45 Park Ave, Cassadaga. Attend by boat or bring a chair or blanket. There is plenty of shady spots to sit in and food and drink is available to purchase with all proceeds going to the Cassadaga Food Pantry. Lifeguards will be on duty for the duration of the concert. This beautiful venue also boasts a playground, beach volleyball and a basketball court. Come and enjoy a delightful evening on Cassadaga Lake.
In case of inclement weather, this concert will take place at the American Legion Post 1280, 228 Maple Ave, Cassadaga.
