Fredonia mourns death of student

The Fredonia Central School District is mourning the death of a High School student. In an email sent to the school community Monday, Superintendent Dr. Brad Zilliox stated a student passed away Sunday night. Zilliox said that Fredonia Police believes the death, while unexpected, was of natural causes. Because the district has not connected directly with the family as of Monday morning, the name of the student who passed away was not released. “Our sincere condolences and thoughts go out to their family and friends,” Zilliox stated. Salamanca man charged with rape

HANOVER – A Salamanca resident is accused of having sexual relations with a minor earlier this year. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that 22-year-old Keion T. Tyger was charged with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. It is alleged that in January he engaged in sexual intercourse with a juvenile while in the town of Hanover. Tyger was arraigned in Chautauqua County Supreme Court.
