Thirty years ago — 1992 Mrs. Tina Edson of Sinclairville has signed a contract to carry an embryo for an infertile Canadian couple. She expects to be artificially inseminated within the next month or two. In return, Mrs. Edson will receive a $10,000 payment from the couple as well as having all medical and incidental expenses paid. A new state law prohibits payments to women who become pregnant for other parents, but since her contract was signed before the law went into effect, Mrs. Edson is exempt.
