FPDA awards annual JFK scholarship

Judy Einach and Ciara Carlson-Healy

The Fredonia-Pomfret Democratic Association awards an annual $500 John F. Kennedy Scholarship. The scholarship is based on President Kennedy’s declaration that one person can make a difference in the world. His statement, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,” has inspired many. This scholarship has challenged students to show their passion through service to others.

The 2018 JFK scholarship was awarded to Ms. Ciara Carlson-Healy because of academic success, service to the community, her essay and her desire to make the world a better place to live.

In addition to her many hours of community service, Ms. Carlson-Healy showed a broad understanding of national and international affairs.

Judy Einach, candidate for New York State Assembly for our district, awarded the scholarship to Ms. Carlson-Healy. Ms. Einach pointed out that Ms. Carlson-Healy personifies the dream of President John F. Kennedy. In her mind, and in the opinion of the selection committee, Ciara Carlson-Healy is the ideal candidate for the JFK Scholarship.

“We expect amazing things from this intelligent, caring, and socially gifted young woman,” were words used by Judy Einach to sum up her thoughts on Ms. Carlson-Healy.
