Fredonia native welcomed into Playhouse on the Square

Michaela Tramuta

The Circuit Playhouse, Inc. is pleased to welcome Michaela Tramuta to Playhouse on the Square as an associate company member.

Playhouse on the Square is Memphis’ only resident professional theatre company servicing the entire Mid-South. Between our two main stage venues, Playhouse on the Square and The Circuit Playhouse, we offer 15 performances a year, with additional performances in our black box space TheatreWorks and annual events such as the Playhouse Art Auction and Great Wines. Throughout the year, we serve a broad community representing every age, race, gender, orientation and socio-economic family. Our mission is to produce a challenging and diverse repertoire of theatrical work that speaks to the intelligence, the soul and the imagination of the Memphis community. We also take our show “on the road” offering theatre education outreach and touring productions through each calendar year culminating with Summer Youth Theatre Conservatory.

The Associate Company is an internship program that began in 1981. It includes 16 young college graduates hired to assist in all phases of production for CPI. The program was begun to enable emerging theatre artists to explore every avenue of the profession and apply their education in the real world. Tramuta will serve as a performance intern, as well as serve time in the costume department.

Michaela is a native of Fredonia, NY and is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Recent credits include Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Shakespeare on the Lake, Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof, Assassins, and Trumpet in the Land with Trumpet in the Land. She was a competitive runner for seven years and loves coffee and yoga. When asked what she hopes to gain from working with Playhouse on the Square, Tramuta says, “I hope to grow as a person, as a performer, and as a member of the theatre community.”
