Cameron named D-F Rotary Student of the Month

Caroline Cameron

Caroline Cameron is a senior at Fredonia High School. She lives with her parents, Brian and Jennifer Cameron. Brian is the Senior Sales Executive at Speed Global Services and Jennifer is a statistics professor at SUNY Fredonia and a financial specialist for the Chautauqua County Land Bank. Caroline’s grandparents are Raja and Sandra Gopalan, both of whom had careers in the medical field. Raja was a general surgeon at Brooks Memorial Hospital for many years and Sandra served as a nurse in the newborn and premature baby nursery. Caroline also has one sibling, Lila Cameron, who is a freshman at Fredonia High School where she participates in softball and soccer.

Caroline has attended Fredonia Central School District for her entire academic career. In her time at the high school, she elected to take four AP Courses, three JCC courses, and numerous advanced classes which helped her rise to the top of her class. Caroline is also a member of two national honor societies. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years and the Tri M Music Honor Society for three years, one of which she has served as the social chair. As the social chair, she keeps a record of the music community service hours performed by each member of the chapter. Caroline is also the president of Fredonia’s Interact Club, which is a service-oriented group that takes action in the school and the community all while promoting international understanding. As president, it is her job to run the monthly meetings and assist her advisors in finding service opportunities for members to pursue.

Caroline has been a part of the varsity girl’s golf team since her freshman year. With the help of her coaches Alex Conti, Ross Conti, and Dave Lewis, Caroline has medalled at multiple courses and has qualified and advanced to sectionals for the past two years.

Regarding her musical background, Caroline has played the flute since the fifth grade. She has been a member of the high school symphonic band and marching band since her freshman year. This year Caroline also serves as the flute section leader and has also joined the pit orchestra for the high school musical, “Guys and Dolls.”

When Caroline’s not studying or participating in her extracurriculars, she enjoys volunteering at the Lakeshore Humane Society in Dunkirk. She has been a volunteer for five years now. As a volunteer with the cats, Caroline’s job involves cleaning kennels, changing food dishes and water bottles, and socializing with the cats.

In regards to her future, Caroline is unsure of which college she will be attending, but she hopes to study biological sciences and eventually pursue a career in veterinary medicine so that she can continue to help animals.
