Norma and Charles St. George

Charles and Norma St. George recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. There was a backyard family picnic with 30 members of the family on Friday evening, Aug. 14. On Saturday, they were honored at the 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Mass at St. Anthony’s Church with four priests concelebrating – the Rev. C.J. Westfield, pastor of St. Anthony; the Rev. Dan Walsh, former pastor of St. Anthony; The Rev. Walter Werbicki of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and Monsignor Michael Yunk, (retired) who is a cousin of Mrs. St. George and was an altar boy at the wedding. The couple was honored to have Monsignor Yunk give them the spiritual blessing.

A reception for 130 people followed at the Fredonia Beaver Club. Mr. St. George introduced the head table with some of the original members of the wedding party who were bridesmaids, Coletta Knopa and husband Daniel, cousin of Mrs. St. George; Laura Wright, sister of Mrs. St. George; and on the groom’s side was Carl Privateer and wife Pat. Carl was only 13 years old at the time of the wedding. Also at the head table were the four priests along with the Rev. Dennis Riter of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Norma and Charlie are blessed with four children: Dr. Sally Ann St. George/Wulff of Calgary, Canada; Chuck St. George of Nashua, N.H.; Lou Ann Proper of Fredonia and Jude St. George of Long Island. They have eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
