A Papal Blessing was bestowed upon John and Margaret (Marge Long) Hens who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on Sept. 10, 1955 at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic church in Omaha, Neb. Mrs. Hens, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis (Thelma) Long, Sr., is a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School in Dunkirk.

A dinner celebration was held in their honor at Ripa’s restaurant in Lancaster. Guests attended from Colorado, Massachusetts and Western New York. Preceding dinner, the couple received the Blessing of a Married Couple from their son, Deacon Matthew Hens of Fredonia.

The couple has five children: Michael (Gladys) Hens of Maryland, David (Karen Tolley) Hens of Colorado, Matthew (Mary Jane) Hens of Fredonia, Rebecca (Mike) Formwalt of Buffalo and Jeanne (Steve) Malovich of Alden. They have 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hens is retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. Mrs. Hens is a retired Lancaster Central School District nurse. They reside in Lancaster.
