Local couple celebrates platinum wedding anniversary in Silver Creek

Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Ardeene) Lisa celebrated their platinum (70th) wedding anniversary on Sunday Oct. 25 at the Samuel Cimino VFW in Silver Creek. The couple was married Oct. 27, 1945 in Dunkirk. Mr. Lisa was stationed at the prisoner of war camp in Dunkirk, guarding German prisoners. He met Miss Ardeene Jankowski one evening at the former Peanut Cafe while on leave and the rest is history.

Attending the celebration were friends and family members from Long Island, North Carolina, Rochester and the surrounding area. A special guest was Mr. Lisa’s 96-year-old brother James from Long Island who attended with his daughter Inez.

Dr. Tat-Sum Lee, the couple’s family physician, also attended. The couple say he has helped them make it this far- along with their deep love and respect for each other and their family.

Brenda Lisa gave the opening prayer, followed by champagne toast with each child giving a personal heart felt story. A buffet dinner was served.

The celebration was given by the couple’s five children: James (Joan) Lisa, Frank (Donna) Lisa, William (Lori) Lisa, Donald (Brenda) Lisa, and Jodi ( Dennis Beutel. Mr. and Mrs. Lisa have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Photos, videos and memories were shared throughout the afternoon.
