Anniversary

Rev. and Mrs. Harland J. West

Rev. and Mrs. Harland J. (T. Sue) West are celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary with the same enthusiastic commitment as their wedding day at Wesley Methodist Church in Rochester, N.Y.

Family planned activities for the occasion on Aug. 27.

They are the parents of Harland, Charles and David West, as well as grandparents and great-grandparents to their extended family.

Anniversary

Allen and Carol (Johnson) Lachut of El Dorado celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 2, with their children, grandchildren and other relatives on beautiful Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs National Park. The weekend included boating, swimming, and an anniversary dinner and fireworks over the lake at a resort.

They will be traveling later this month to Cherry Creek for their 50th high school reunion with their class of 1966 classmates of Pine Valley Central High School. A family reunion will also be held that week with friends and family in Chautauqua County.

The couple was married on July 2, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Cherry Creek, by the Rev. Raymond Jones.

They have two children: Scott Lachut (and wife, Nancy) of Radcliff, Ky., and Valerie Crawford (and husband Chip) of El Dorado; five grandchildren: Christina (Lachut) Petroski of Lowell, Ariz.; David Lachut of Ellicott City, Md.; Rachel Lachut of Radcliff, Ky.; and Anna and Allen “A.J.” Craig of El Dorado; one great-grandchild: Adam Michael Petroski of Lowell, Ariz.

Mr. Lachut was born in Buffalo, and recently retired from Southern Arkansas University as a licensed mental health counselor. Mrs. Lachut was born in Corry, Pa. She and her husband serve as the Union County Multidisciplinary Team Coordinators for Child Abuse and Family Violence.

The couple met in Cherry Creek while their families were both living in the small, farming village in Chautauqua County and they attended school together as children. They have lived in El Dorado since 1974.

Anniversary

David and Kathleen (Galardo) Taber of Fredonia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married at Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk on Aug. 13, 1966 by the Rev. William Lanphear.

The groom is the son of Charles and Alice Taber. The bride is the daughter of Anthony and Marie Galardo. Their attendants included best man Daniel Barlette, maid of honor Patricia Barlette, and ushers Peter Galardo and Arthur Kozlowski. There were 250 guests at the wedding, with the furthest attending from England.

At the time of their wedding, the groom was working at the Fredonia Farm Supply. One month after the wedding, he was drafted by the U.S. Army. Later, he worked at True Temper until it closed, and then for the NYS Thruway until his retirement. Mrs. Taber worked at Fredonia Seed Company and loss prevention jobs at various stores. She is also retired.

Their children include Mr. David Taber Jr. of Dunkirk, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Charity) Taber of Dunkirk, and Mrs. Alice Rosing of Dunkirk. The couple has nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private celebration with children was held at the Colony in Irving. The couple has resided at the same home in Fredonia for the past 40 years.
