Burletts celebrate 70th anniversary

Dolly and Richard Burlett

Congratulations to Richard and Dolly Burlett, who are extending an invitation to all relatives and friends to attend their 70th wedding anniversary celebration at the Sheridan VFW on Route 20 on Saturday, Aug. 11. A social hour is planned from 2 to 3 p.m., with refreshments from 3 to 5 p.m. They request no gifts.

Richard Burlett and Rosemarie (Dolly) Lemanski were married on Aug. 14, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Fredonia.

They have two sons, Richard W. (Francella) of Fredonia and Alan K. of Stockton, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The groom, a World War II veteran, worked at the Alleghany Ludlum Steel Corporation as a carbon and sulfur chemist in the chemical lab for more than 20 years. After moving to Marrilla, New York, Richard worked with his brother Robert at Loegler & Ladd Farm Machinery Inc. in Lancaster, New York.

The bride, a Fredonia Acme Market cashier for over 15 years, became the meal planner and cook at the Elmwood Franklin School in north Buffalo upon their move.

The Burletts moved back to Fredonia in 1988 and happily retired, except for their famous annual tomato roadside stand.
