Frank and Shirley DeJohn

Frank and Shirley DeJohn of Fredonia celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Here is a portion of the announcement that was published on that day in the Dunkirk OBSERVER:

An altar decorated with vases of white gladioli provided the background this morning for the marriage of Miss Ann Gervase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gervase of Eagle Street, Fredonia, to Mr. Frank Joseph DeJohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel DeJohn of Eagle Street, Fredonia. The Rev. Vito Sebeen performed the ceremony at 11 o’clock in St. Anthony’s church.

Vocalist for the wedding, at which out of town guests were present from Rochester, Buffalo, Jamestown, Silver Creek, Niagara Falls, Oceanside, Calif., and Silver Spring, Md., was Louis Mastor of Fredonia who sang “Panis Anglicus” and “Ava Maria.”

The bride and groom are both graduates from Fredonia High School. Mrs. DeJohn is employed as a secretary for Collesano & Sommer, attorneys, and Mr. DeJohn is employed in the office of Allegheny-Ludlum Steel corporation plant in Dunkirk. They will make their home in Fredonia.
