Lily Dale Assembly presents: MANDALA SAND PAINTING OPENING CEREMONY by TIBETAN MONKS, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Fire Hall, $55. Limited to 150. Painting with colored sand ranks as one of the most unique and exquisite traditions of Tantric Buddhism. Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning cosmogram or “world in harmony.” It takes millions of grains of sand, painstakingly laid into place on a flat platform over a period of days or weeks.
