WESTFIELD – The Westfield Memorial Hospital Regional Auxiliary will host an Election Night Harvest Ham Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. or until sold out at the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield.

In addition to ham, the menu includes green beans, cheesy potatoes, cranberry salad, roll, beverage and homemade pie. The cost of the dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10 years of age. Sit down or take out options are available. For more information, call 326-3504. All proceeds benefit new and ongoing projects at WMH.

The First Presbyterian Church is handicapped accessible making it easy for all to attend. The Auxiliary hopes that everyone will come out and exercise their right to vote and partake of a delicious ham dinner to support projects at WMH.

The WMH Regional Auxiliary held its annual meeting on Sept. 27 at the Assembly of God Church in Westfield. Marjory Fritz, auxiliary board president, welcomed members who were then served a delicious dinner catered by Parkview Cafe of Westfield.

The speaker for the evening was Pete Pascale, new WMH administrator. He told the group about himself and how he ended up coming to Westfield. He has been at WMH for five months and really enjoys the hospital and the community. Pascale is very excited about the upcoming ER renovation and his top priority is to have as many services available as possible at WMH.

Annual reports were given by Fritz; Cindy Harper, secretary; and Jean McCau-sland, treasurer. Fritz outlined the projects undertaken by the auxiliary board this year. They include: completion of renovations of the second floor training/con-ference room, remodeling of the cafeteria, improvements to radiology CT unit, location of qualified person to restore antique pharmacy safe, funds for outdoor plantings, poinsettias and decorated trees for the holidays, sponsored $500 hole for Foundation’s Golf Tourna-ment.

Fritz also highlighted the activities carried out by the auxiliary in order to finance these projects. They include: the ham dinner on election night, a chicken and biscuit dinner in April, the pie booth at the Westfield Arts and Crafts Show, Parklane Jewelry sales, the new porcelain “Westfield Train Station” ornament and magnet, the raffle of a quilt donated by Westfield Quilt Guild and two lottery tree drawings.

Fritz also stressed the importance of the Auxiliary’s community outreach programs. These include: participation in the first time “Color Burst Event,” monthly blood pressure screenings at YWCA and Community Kitchen in Westfield and the VFW in Mayville, informational session at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and board members participating in the annual wellness day at Westfield Academy and Central School. Continuing a tradition of ending the year with a social event, the board enjoyed a holiday dinner and fun at the Parkview Cafe.

“News that WMH received a permanent Cer-tificate of Need will allow the focus to be on providing quality care to the communities it serves,” Fritz said. “The Auxiliary pledges its continued support and cooperation in promoting WMH as the first choice for medical care.”

Carol Sommers, who is retiring from the board, was recognized for her years of service to the organization. Revisions to the by-laws were presented and ap-proved. The election of directors was held with the following results: Class of 2019: Heidi Fowler, Marilyn Hemmer, Judy Loomis, Marilynne Northrop and Carol Widrig.
