76ers deliver Christmas food bags

Submitted Photo The Sinclairville 76ers is the Meals on Wheels program for the Cassadaga Valley area. Meals are delivered three times a week on three different routes in vans by volunteers. The areas include Villenova, Cherry Creek, Conewango Valley, Ellington, Cassadaga, Lily Dale, Stockton, Centralia, Sinclairville, and Gerry. The hot meals are prepared at the Sinclairville Fire Hall kitchen and kept hot by special hot boxes which attach to the electrical system of the van. For those who are able, the same meal is served on the same days of the week in the Sinclairville Fire Hall dining room on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Richard Smith is the president of the organization which was formed nearly 40 years ago. The program is a part of the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging. At Christmas time, special food bags were packed and delivered to the those on the routes. This year many food items, snacks, and necessities were donated by the generous people of the South Stockton Wayside Chapel, and the Office for the Aging. Shown in the photograph putting items in the bags for delivery are Wally Jozwiak, chef of the 76ers meals on wheels kitchen, and Elsie Livermore, site manager.
