In recognition of the month of June as National Dairy Month, the New York State Dairy Princess and Promotion Program team donated a dairy themed gift basket to the family of the first baby born at the hospital in June.

Autumn Gregory, Second Alternate Chautauqua County Dairy Princess, cheerfully delivered the gift basket in anticipation of the first June baby at the Brooks campus of Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc.

In perfect time for the celebration, Leland Michael Clutter was born to proud parents Amanda Hardy and Jeremy Clutter June 1, at 3:09 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 9 ounces. The family was pleasantly surprised to receive the basket.

According to Katie Tomkiewicz, RN, Brooks-TLC OB clinical coordinator, “We advise post-partum patients to focus on a well-balanced diet and healthy eating as during pregnancy. Moms who are breastfeeding need additional fluids and calories as well.” Dairy is an excellent source of nutrition for new moms, providing many essential nutrients like calcium and protein for bone and muscle.

The New York State Dairy Princess and Promotion Program as promotes the dairy industry and increase milk and dairy product sales. The program is funded by local dairy farmers through their checkoff investment in the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Inc.
