CHRIC holds 41st annual meeting

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation & Improvement Corporation (CHRIC) held its 41st Annual Meeting recently at Webb’s Captain’s Table Restaurant, in Mayville.

Patty Perlee was re-elected as president of the CHRIC Board of Directors, Michael Civiletto was elected as vice-president and Carl Swan, was re-elected treasurer at the annual meeting for the 2019-2020 term. CHRIC board members include James P. Barrett, Frank J. Beach, Fred Croscut, Sylvia Faust, Barbara Hoitink and Carol White. CHRIC’s corporate attorney, John R. Samuelson has been serving the agency for 41 years since the very beginning.

Josh Freifeld, executive director, presented former CHRIC board of director and past Chautauqua County legislator Richard Babbage with a certificate of recognition. Babbage was a special guest and was honored at the meeting for his 15 years of dedication and leadership to the CHRIC Board of Directors and for his long-term commitment to the residents of Chautauqua County.

After the meeting the CHRIC board and employees enjoyed a luncheon at Webb’s and spent time reminiscing about the past year’s accomplishments.

For 41 years, CHRIC has been improving the housing stock of Chautauqua County and the living conditions of its low-income residents. As a chartered NeighborWorks organization, they provide leadership in strengthening communities and creating affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate income families. Over the past five years alone, CHRIC has created 66 new homeowners, has counseled 485 in financial literacy, repaired or rehabbed 491 owner-occupied homes, developed or preserved 157 rental homes, assisted 1,278 families in Chautauqua County, provided 293 volunteer hours, and provided a total of direct investment of over $12 million in Chautauqua County.
