Healthy Community Day set at Dunkirk Farmers Market

Healthy Community Day at the Dunkirk Farmers Market is scheduled for Wednesday. To celebrate the event shoppers will have an opportunity to participate in a free market gift basket raffle giveaway that will take place that afternoon.

Roberto Fred Farms and Richard Feinen Farms offer a wide variety of vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers, preserves, honey, and vegetable plants. D&R Desserts offer delicious breads, rolls, jams/jellies and many other confectionary delicacies. Gardens of Eternity offering a range of natural body products, jewelry, handmade washcloths and bathmats, and more. Franklin’s Honey & Apples will again be on hand all market season offering their mouthwatering Kettle Korn caramel apples and other delicious treats.

In addition to our vendors, a representativesfrom Chautauqua Opportunities Safe House Programand WNY Independent Living Services will be on hand to provide information on theirprogramsanddistribute some promotional items. The Dunkirk Market accepts EBT/SNAP benefits for all produce, meat, preserves, baked goods, vegetable plants and more. WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers, WIC VF and Fresh Connect checks are also accepted. Our Double Up Program allows SNAP shoppers to double their SNAP dollars (up to $20), with the extra tokens going towards the purchase of fresh produce.

Market management continues to take every precaution to keep our Market vendors and customers safeby continuingto implement additional regulations which include: requiring customers and vendors to wear protective face coverings while at the Market, maintaining CDC recommended social distancing requirements, providing handwashing and hand sanitizer stations and only allowing vendors to handle product and produce. Vendors are complying will all current state safety practices and sanitary procedures to protect their customers and themselves, while continuing to provide access to the finest in local produce and products. The Dunkirk Farmers Market takes place every Wednesday to Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Dunkirk Senior Center on Ruggles Street — rain or shine.
