Holiday trash pickup in the city

Dunkirk City Hall will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving.

As per the 2020 Curbside Collection Schedule, rubbish in the Thursday collection zone (District A) will be picked up on Friday. Rubbish in the Friday collection zone (District D) will be picked up on Saturday.

Copies of the Curbside Collection Schedule, which are valid until Feb. 28 are still available in the City Clerk’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office & Public Works Department as well as the city’s website www.cityofdunkirk.com.

Fredonia plans flushing starting Nov. 30

On Monday, Nov. 30, the village of Fredonia will start flushing water mains and fire hydrants in and around the village, weather permitting.

The flushing will be done from 3 to 11 p.m. The flushing will take approximately two weeks and during this process, residents may experience turbid water and reduced water pressure.

The village recommends that residents check the quality of their water before doing laundry.
