Chautauqua County Public Health free drive-in rabies vaccination clinic

Pomfret Highway Barns, 9636 Chautauqua Road, Fredonia, 4 to 6 p.m. Animals must be pre-registered: call 716-753-4567. Pet owners stay in the vehicles with their pets and must bring previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier. Animal handlers will transport pets from the vehicle to the vet on site, Dr. Katie Ball. Dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older are eligible.

Dunkirk Elks bingo

Dunkirk Elks Lodge bingo will be held at 428 Central Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. Admission sales begin at 6 p.m. Games start at 7 p.m. Social distancing will be followed. Masks must be worn by those who are not fully vaccinated.

Prevention Works and the HOPE Chautauqua Coalition 5K Run/walk and chicken barbecue

Pre-registration for the run/walk starts at 9:30 a.m. at The Resource Center, 186 Lake Shore Drive, Dunkirk, progresses up Lake Shore Drive to Point Gratiot, and returns to The Resource Center. The race begins at 10:30 a.m. Race costs are $15 for youth 14 and under, $30 for 15 and up. See kari@preventionworks.us for details. A Weidner’s chicken barbecue will be served at The Resource Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The $12 dinner also includes two sides. Lakeshore Humane Society Saturday open

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes. Tours of the facility will not be given. Individual appointments are available throughout the week by leaving a message at 716 672-1991; press “1” for dogs or “2” for cats.
