Healing Mass set for Wed. May 25

Charismatic Renewal of the Diocese of Buffalo will take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The celebrant will be Fr. Richard DiGiulio.

Cemtery board meets June 7

The next monthly meeting of the Willowbrook Park Cemtery board of directors will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, in the cemetery chapel. The board is seeking new members as well as grounds maintenance personnel. Board members do not have to own a plot in the cemetery or have a title to a niche in the columbarium to be on the board. Anyone interested should attend the meeting. At some point, the board will decide what to do with the 12 acres of land the cemetery owns but is not using.

Ethics board meets today

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will meet at 3 p.m. today in Rooms 331 and 333 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville. Rummage, bake sale is Saturday

CASSADAGA — The annual Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 Auxiliary rummage and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Items can be taken to the post to be donated through Friday. Items not accepted include encyclopedias, any electronics and computer/related items.

planning open house

The Girl Scouts of Western New York Horton Hill Day Camp at the Jamestown Service Center on Horton Road, Jamestown, will hold an open house for all registered campers and their families and any Girls Scouts thinking of coming to camp today from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a tour of the 49 acre wooded site at 6:30 p.m. and a special craft. Meet the camp director, nurse, and some of the summer staff. The day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 12 through Friday, July 15. There are extended hours at no extra cost to accommodate working families. dinner set for May 25

The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will serve a Weidner’s BBQ Rib and Chicken Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25. The drive-through only dinner will be served at the Parish Social Center at 324 Townsend St. in Dunkirk. The dinner will include a three-bone section of BBQ spare ribs, 1/4 BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, BBQ baked beans and a roll and butter for a $15 donation.

Tickets may be purchased at each weekend Mass, at Big Rick’s on Lake Shore Drive East and at Marlene’s, formerly the 4th Ward Deli, on East Doughty Street. There will be a small number of tickets available at the door so please buy your tickets early!

Memorial Day events being planned

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion will participate in several Memorial Day activities in 2022. The Legion Honor Guard will perform military honors at the Gerry Cemetery on Sunday, May 29, at 2 p.m. On Memorial Day Monday, May 30, legion members will travel to 12 cemeteries starting at 7 a.m. and perform military honors at each site. A Memorial Day parade will take place in Cassadaga at 11 a.m. followed by a Memorial Day program at the Cassadaga cemetery. Any units wishing to participate in the Cassadaga Parade may contact Sally at 716-595-3713.

Museum ready for reopening Sunday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society Museum in Sinclairville at Main and Lester streets will open to the public on Sunday for the first time since September 2019. The museum will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. and there is no charge for admission. Larry Barmore, society president, will be on hand to answer any questions about the museum collection or local history in general. The museum will be closed the following Sunday because of Memorial Day but will be open every non-holiday Sunday through September.

SINCLAIRVILLE — Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Company 1 will host a chicken barbecue on Sunday from noon until sold out. The full meal consists of a half-chicken, scalloped potatoes, applesauce, pickle, roll, and cookie. The cost is $12. A meal that is only a half-chicken is available for $8. The bell jar is also available. Eat-in or take-orders are offered. A bake sale to benefit the Sinclairville 76ers will be held in the fire department’s in the truck room. Parking is available in the rear of the fire hall.

Health board meeting Thursday

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Board of Health will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Hall R. Clothier Building, B-14, basement level conference room, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville. Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. Bake sale June 3 to benefit library

SILVER CREEK — The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek are pleased to announce that their annual bake sale will be held on Friday, June 3. There will be two locations. Stop at the Library on Main Street in Silver Creek or at Add Lumber True Value in Irving. The sale will be held from 9:30 a.m. until sold out. presents Saturday show

JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Skating Club will present its spring skating show, “The Good Ole Days,” on Saturday, May with showtimes at 1 and 6 p.m. at Northwest Arena in Jamestown. The show will feature solos, duets and group numbers performed to music from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s by a wide variety of talented skaters, from “Snowplow Sam” beginners to United States Figure Skating Gold Medalists as well as former Disney on Ice stars! General admission is $10 at the door.
