Jamestown residents among Concerto Competition winners at SUNY Fredonia
Jamestown residents Boaz Mecham and Aaron Mecham are among the winners of the Concerto Competition at the State University at Fredonia along with two other contestants.
The brothers played a Concerto for Two Pianos by Poulenc. They entered the competition as piano students of Professor Sean Duggan at SUNY Fredonia.
Winners get to participate next year as soloists in a concert with the College Symphony Orchestra of SUNY Fredonia.
Boaz Mecham and Aaron Mecham are enrolled in violin performance and piano at the SUNY Fredonia. They are in their sophomore year. They had won first place of Chautauqua’s Got Talent at the Spire Theater in 2019 and were among the final students of Helga Hulse. At the age of 10 they played a debut duet, the Bach Concerto for two Violins with the Warren Philharmonic of Pennsylvania under the direction of Bryan Eckenrode.
