December events listed at the Patterson Library

WESTFIELD — Come to the Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St., for free events and programs. Registration is required unless stated otherwise; call/visit the library during open hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays. FOR ADULTS:

— Join the monthly book clubs. Call to confirm dates; no registration necessary. Mystery Book Club is the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.; Best Sellers Book Club is the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and Book Talk is the second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m.

— Cozy Crafters meets weekly on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Work on any handcraft; no registration.

— Thursday at 5:30 p.m.: Author Linda Lavid will share her book. — Friday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. Octagon Gallery Opening: Members of NSAA. — Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. Cooking with Chef Jim. Preregistration is required. This month is the fourth course: Holiday Joy: Make the holidays fun with family by cooking with (some of the) wine. Features dishes that require an accompaniment of bold, vintage wines to enhance the experience. – Dec. 19, Friday, from 4 to 5 p.m. ART in the STACKS: Victor Matthews

IN THE CHILDREN’S AREA

No registration is necessary for any of the following events: — PJ storytime with Mrs. Claus: Thursday, Dec 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Reading Room. Christmas ornament making: stop in anytime in December and make an ornament in the children’s area.

— Zoom Room: Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. for ages to 3 years. — Giggle & Grow storytime: Fridays at 10:30 a.m., for ages to 5 and their families.
