Nicole Zenns to perform with Chautauqua Concert Band

The Chautauqua Concert Band will be performing its 20th annual concert at the Reg Lenna Civic Center in Jamestown on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is Contemporary Songs For Concert Band under the direction of John Cross and narration of Dennis Webster.

Some of the highlights for the first half of the program will include “Sunburst,” “Sea Songs,” “Festive Songs From Faust” and Darius Milhaud’s “Suite Francaise.” The featured soloist this year is Nicole Zenns, who will be performing The Carnival of Venice on flute.

Over 200 middle school musicians from 16 local Chautauqua County schools will perform with the Chautauqua Band during the second half of the concert. They will also attend instrumental classes, rehearse with the professional musicians and enjoy a live pre-show concert featuring the Swingin’ Teachers All-Star Band. Seventh-graders will perform “On Wisconsin,” “Appalachian Suite” and “Party Rock Anthem.” Eighth-graders will perform “Nocturnal Dances,” “Swashbuckler’s March” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” under the direction of Sherman Central School Band Director, Andrew Minton.
