The North Shore Arts Alliance invites the community to explore the region’s artistic talent with the opening receptions of two new exhibitions taking place Friday.

Main St. in Westfield from 7 to 9 p.m. Participating artists include Diane Andrasik, Amy Jackman, Trenton Lutes, Ange Bentivegna, Bill Smith, Susan Forrester Mackay, Ronnie Lafferty, Mara Rubin, George Petrella, Christine French and Carrie Saddler-Tredo.

The theme of this show focuses on the artists’ influential surroundings be it home, yard or neighborhood.

“The Artists Surround-ings” exhibition continues through July 25 at Surroundings Art Gallery.

The second show opening Friday evening is “Some Like It Hot” at Sensory Winery and Art Gallery, Route 20 in Ripley, from 7 to 9 p.m. Participating artists include Andrasik, Bentivegna, Craig Chism, Barbara Del Monte, French, Jackman, Mary Ann Jankowski, Patti McCord Kalosky, Lafferty, Smith, Lutes, Mackay, Petrella, Cecelia Price, Rubin and Saddler-Tredo.

The “Some Like It Hot” theme of this exhibition suggests the intensity of the senses: the heat of the summer season exploding in vibrant color and visual richness.

Everything is alive and flourishing and at its most intense as energy fills the world. Together with that comes a variety of other overtones, such as the spicy heat of food, the intensity of a relationship, or the excitement of an experience.

The show was curated by North Shore Arts Alliance members Diane Andrasik and Ronnie Lafferty.

“Some Like It Hot” continues through Aug. 3 at Sensory Winery and Art Gallery.

The North Shore Arts Alliance is a not-for-profit co-operative marketing, promotional, and membership organization working on behalf of artists in Chautauqua County. NSAA seeks to foster an environment where art strengthens our County’s image, economic vitality, and quality of life.
