James Hoggard participating in art trail

Dogwood Blossoms by James Joggard.

The North Shore Arts Alliance announces that the 11th annual Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail Open Studio and Gallery Tour will take place over Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-26. One of the artists participating in this year’s art trail is photographer James Hoggard.

He is inspired by wild places, enveloping light, streams that roar, carpets of wildflowers, foggy forests and alpenglow (an optical illusion that appears before sunrise and after sunset) on craggy peaks. He bought a Hasselblad in 1993 (and still uses it), and became obsessed with capturing light on film, first in California, then Utah, and now in the East. Influenced by Ansel Adams, Hoggard shoots landscapes with a large-format view camera and prefers scenes that have little or no human impact.

His work will be on display at 136 Newton St., Fredonia. For more information and a list of all the artists participating, visit http://www.northshoreartsalliance.com.
