The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will participate in Cat Video Fest 2019, a special collaborative event with the Lakeshore Humane Society, on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m.

Each year, cinemas and performing arts centers around the globe present a special annually curated compilation reel of the latest, best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos and, of course, the internet. Screenings take place in a wide variety of venues and raise money for cats in need, often through partnerships with local cat charities, animal welfare organizations and shelters.

The 2019 edition of Cat Video Fest will be shown at the Opera House with a portion of the proceeds from the screening to benefit the Lakeshore Humane Society (LHS).

In addition to screening the film, the Opera House will serve as a collection point for items always needed by the LHS: clean soft blankets, bleach, cat beds, cat toys, cat scratching posts and boards, Kitten Chow (dry), Purina Cat Complete food (blue bag), copy paper, card stock, disposable gloves, dryer sheets, garbage bags (kitchen and large trash), hand sanitizer, paper towels, toilet paper, postage stamps, Tidy Cat scoopable cat litter, and old clean terrycloth towels.

Opera House Executive Director Rick Davis says the event is a collaborative venture between the Opera House and LHS and should be a fun afternoon for everyone. “What better way to spend an afternoon than experiencing the communal joy that comes from watching awe-dorable cat videos?!”
