Danza! Performing Arts Academy dance studio is pleased to announce their annual Holiday production “The Danza! Nutcracker” will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the historic 1891 Fredonia Opera House. The show promises to be an exciting kick-off to the holiday season.

“The Danza! Nutcracker” has all the traditional favorites with some surprise twists. Classic ballet numbers such as “Waltz of the Flowers” are performed by the Intermediate and Advanced Ballet students. Character dances feature Mia Barone, Emma Forthman and Mia Gorka as “Spanish Dance,” Emma Ahlstrom, Marissa Grisanti and Tabitha Shevlin “Trepak” and Kyra Taylor and Mckenna Taylor performing “Arabian Coffee.” The role of Clara is played by Grace Nolan of Westfield and The Sugar Plum Fairy is Mckenna Taylor of Fredonia.

In addition to all the traditional Nutcracker ballet pieces, upbeat Jazz and Hip Hop musical versions of Nutcracker pieces are also featured. Hip Hop, Tumbling, Jazz and Tap dances are performed by dancers of all ages. Beautiful holiday costumes, props and sets as well as a festively decorated Opera House enhance the performance.

The local Holiday performances are open to the public. The annual performance features numerous of the studio’s dancers each year in a unique and original presentation choreographed by Danza! Artistic Director Krista Taylor.

The performances include something for everyone and are very family-friendly. Performers are from all over Chautauqua County and range from the age of three and up. Tickets are available at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House at 679-1891 for $15. The box office is open Tuesday through Friday 1 to 5 p.m., located at 9 Church St. in Fredonia.
