WESTFIELD — The Chautauqua County Historical Society will hold its annual spring gala on Saturday, June 8, at McClurg Museum.

The gala features hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets to the event are $50 and are available by calling CCHS at 716.326.2977 or by email at info@cchs.mcclurg.org.

Guests are invited to view new exhibits and improvements to the museum during the gala. A self-guided audio tour is also available.

The McClurg homestead, completed in 1820 by James McClurg, has housed the county historical society since 1951. The structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The gala coincides with the reenactment – just steps away from the museum – of the daily life and experiences of the 9th New York State Cavalry, which mustered out of Chautauqua County during the Civil War. The encampment, held June 7-9, is free and open to the public. Gala attendees are invited to visit the encampment to learn about the cavalry’s efforts.
