On May 1-3, the Community Theatre Project at Main Street Studios in Fredonia will be performing the play Little Women. This fresh adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, written by Kate Hamill, and portrayed by the talented cast, will keep the audiences laughing, and crying, throughout the show.

The story follows the lives of the March family during the Civil War. The father, Robert March, went off to join the Union War effort, leaving his wife and 4 daughters at home to grow and fare for themselves during a time when women did not have any real legal ability to do so. The girls learn to face the lessons of life, love, and tragedy, and in doing so find themselves along the way.

The cast consists of Cal Wielgasz as Jo, Emma Newton as Meg, Claire Blandino as Beth, Evelyn Ryan and Clare O’Connell as the younger and older Amy, Rachel Offenbach-Smith as Marmee March, and Janey Wagner as Aunt March. Joseph Newton takes on the role of Theodore “Laurie” Laurence, and Fabricio Logan as John Brooks, the sisters’ two suitors. Rounding out the cast are Payton Alessi as Hannah, Michael Tuccio as Mr Laurence, Halea-Ann Self as Mrs Mingott/Messenger, Brady Mazurek as Mr Dashwood, Shawn Piglowski as the parrot, and Richard Newton as Pa March.

Little Women will be running May 1 -3 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee at 2 p.m. on May 3. Tickets are available at mainstreetstudios.seatyourself.biz or at the door. Main Street Studios is located at 50 West Main St., Fredonia, in the historic Card Seed warehouse.

Starting at $3.50/week.
