Opera House Cinema Series to screen The Senior

Pictured is Michael Chiklis who stars in “The Senior.”

The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of the true-story-based film, “The Senior,” starring Michael Chiklis, on Saturday, Nov. 1, and Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.

At 59, Mike Flynt (Chiklis) may be too old to be on a college football field, but not too old to feel the weight of unfinished business. After nearly four decades, he returns to his alma mater to take the hit that changed everything. Bruised, doubted, and nearly broken, he pushes for one more game, not for glory, but for the teammates he lost, the family he fractured, and the ending he still believes is possible.

Deadline Hollywood Daily calls the film “an engaging and winning tale.” RogerEbert.com calls it “a fact-based underdog comeback story.” NYC Movie Guru says “the major reason to see ‘The Senior’ is the emotionally convincing and tender performance of Michael Chiklis – the best performance of his career.” Rated PG , “The Senior” runs one hour, 39 minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Bank.
