Lake Shore Center plans ‘Love Letters’ performances

WESTFIELD — Lake Shore Center for the Arts in Westfield has just the event for your Valentine’s festivities. The renowned play “Love Letters,” written by Buffalo’s own A.R. Gurney and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, will be presented Feb. 10 and 14 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 11 and 12 at 2 p.m. in the Jacqueline Phillips Theater. Hillman Opera presents work based on Tennessee Williams play

The Hillman Opera returns for the 2022-23 season with a compelling work based on a play by Tennessee Williams. “Summer and Smoke” by Lee Hoiby with libretto by Lanford Wilson opens Thursday in Marvel Theatre for four performances. It is presented by the School of Music in cooperation with the Department of Theatre and Dance. The Williams play, set from 1900 to 1916 was written in 1948 and made into a movie in 1961.
