‘Night of the Living Dead,’ ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ conclude movie series

JAMESTOWN — Reg Lenna Center for The Arts completes its October movie series with a showing of the 1968 George A. Romero classic “Night of the Living Dead” on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday, October 27 at 10 p.m. Admission to each is $5.

The 1968 low-budget horror classic “Night of the Living Dead” inspired hundreds of filmmakers and is a hallmark of independent movies. When the recently deceased begin rising from the dead, the world is thrown into chaos. A small group of strangers in rural Pennsylvania barricade themselves in a farmhouse against the threat of zombies and their own instincts as they try to live through the night. “Night of the Living Dead” is not rated and is 97 minutes long. It will be shown in its original 1:37 ratio.

It’s the weird and wonderful in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” as newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter a problem when they car halts in the rain. They both look for contact only to find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter a transvestite. A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there? Especially when a large group of Transylvanians dance to the “Time Warp,” Dr. Frank-N-Furter builds his own man and a whole host of participation for the audience to enjoy. This is an audience participation showing of the 1975 classic. Dress up as your favorite character or come out in a Halloween costume.

Props and more are encouraged! A $5 Fun Pack will be sold that includes many items to be used in the screening including rice, playing cards, glow sticks, mini-gloves and more. Super-soaker style water guns and bags/boxes of rice will not be permitted. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is rated R and is 101 minutes long. Strong language and a lot of shouting will be used by several audience members as is traditional with a Rocky Horror showing.
