Canadian Night set for Thursday at Pier

The City of Dunkirk’s Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series begins its second week at Memorial Park Thursday. The concerts are presented by Dunkirk Festivals, APG, Van Buren Drive-In, National Grid, stage sponsor DFT Communications and Piede Tents, LLC.
This season, music will start a half an hour later at 6 p.m. to better accommodate the community’s schedules.
Canadian Night, sponsored by Community Bank and Universal Stainless will feature We Speak Canadian as the first band from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and headliner Canada Rocks USA playing from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
We Speak Canadian, based out of Jamestown, consists of four metalheads and two theater chicks that play modern pop. They include Chris Lee (guitar, vocals), Brandon Hawley (keyboards), Nany Salva (vocals), Ryan Wilde (bass), Teal Weatherley (vocals) and Darren See (drums, vocals).
Canada Rocks USA, a tribute to Canadian music, is a high energy tribute act based out of northeast Ohio. CRU was formed in late 2023 and much of the music that was the soundtrack to our lives came from the great white north with bands like BTO, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, Heart, Rush, Triumph, Loverboy, Bryan Adams, Neil Young, Nickel Back, Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette, April Wine, Nick Gilder, Honeymoon Suite and many more.

CRU recreates these classic tunes and delivers them via a high octane show that speaks to all age groups. From the late sixties to the 2000’s there is something for everybody at a CRU show.
The members of Canada Rocks USA include seasoned professionals that have been performing both locally and regionally for many years with Kearsten Kopf (vocals), Rich Kline (vocals), Marc Alu (drums), Bob Keys (keyboards), Mark Yurcak (bass) and Mike Olenechak (guitar).
Guests are reminded to bring a chair. Food trucks and other vendors will be on site along with the city’s beverage tent. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace and surrounding harbor front businesses will also be open with food, drink and merchandise options.
