July events set at Anderson-Lee Library

Many art programs are planned at Anderson-Lee Library this summer to go along with the summer reading theme, “Color Our World.” Pictured are Collage Animals, Pet Portraits, and Yarn Wrapped Animals.
SILVER CREEK – Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main Street has announced programming for the months of July. Programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 716-934-3468, stop by 43 Main Street, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!
The library will be closed Friday July 4th for Independence Day.

Thursday, July 3, 10:30 am: Color Our World with Music! Join us for our annual concert with musician Nan Hoffman! She will help us kick off our summer reading program “Color Our World”! All ages are welcome and please register.
Thursday, July 3, 6 pm: Make Your Own Candy Sushi, for ages 11-17. Using a variety of candy, we will create our own delicious candy sushi. Registration required.
Tuesday, July 8, 6 pm: Van Gogh Flowers, for all ages. Together we will create paper flowers inspired by Van Gogh’s famous painting “Sunflowers” to fill our vase and create an inspiring and beautiful work of art to be displayed at the library this summer for all to enjoy. Registration is required.
Thursday, July 10, 10:30 am: Storytime with guest artist Karen Taverna, for ages 2-12. Join us for stories about color and art and then do some marble painting! Please register in advance.
Thursday, July 10, 4 pm: Animal Collage Art, for all ages. Using magazines and other printed material, fill an outline of a variety of animals to create a beautiful collage. Registration required.
Saturday, July 12, 10:30 am: Lego Club for ages 5-12. Build the challenge of the day, pick a challenge card or free build. Your choice! Limit of 10 children and pre-registration is required.
Tuesday, July 15, 6 pm: Pet Portraits, for ages 18 and older. Inspired by an Instagram post! Bring a photo of your favorite pet and create a pop art style portrait. Information about printing the photo you want will be provided when you register for the program.
Thursday, July 17, 10:30 am: Storytime with guest artist D’Arsie Manzella, for ages 2-12. Today’s storytime will be about buttons and beads and we will make a button bracelet! Please register in advance.
Thursday, July 17, 4 pm. Rock Art, for all ages. Join us for a rock painting party! Registration required.
Tuesday, July 22, 5 pm: Boho Hanging Yarn Art, for ages 8 and older. Using driftwood and yarn create your own boho style wall hanging. Registration required.
Thursday, July 24, 10:30 am: Storytime with guest artist Chloe Vecchio, for ages 2-12. Join us as we explore kindness with books and an art project related to “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. Registration required.
Thursday, July 24, 5 pm: Yarn Wrapped Animals, for ages 8 and older. Create a cat, dog, bird, snake, or fish, using cardboard and yarn, and embellish with buttons. You will be asked which template you would like when you register.
Thursday, July 31, 10:30am: Storytime for ages 2-12. Storytime with guest artist Janey Wagner. Join us as we explore creating with watercolors! Registration required.
Thursday, July 31, 6pm: Melted Crayon Jewelry, for ages 12 and older. Make your own melted crayon pendant. Registration required.
The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Fridays from 2-4 pm. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to each week to attend. Please stop in and stitch!
Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from 12-8 pm, Thursday 10 am to 8 pm, Friday 12-5 pm, and Saturday 10 am-2 pm. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
