‘Life of Chuck’ coming to Opera House

“The Life of Chuck” will be Saturday and Tuesday at the Fredonia Opera House.

The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of “The Life of Chuck” on Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.

“The Life of Chuck” is based on one of Stephen King’s more optimistic short stories. From childhood to adulthood, Charles “Chuck” Krantz (Tom Hiddleston) experiences the wonder of love, the heartbreak of loss, and the multitudes contained in all of us.

The Telegraph (UK) calls the film “one of this year’s best movies.” Paste Magazine calls it “a modern fable told with the deftness of a fairy tale, with the sheer exuberance of a musical while exuding the same sense of wonder one gets staring up at the heavens.” The Indian Express calls it “a near-faithful cinematic adaptation which aims at giving us the warm fuzzies-in-this-dark-and-dismal-world.” The Boston Globe says “this film feels like the coziest of blankets enveloping you in the theater.” Rated R for language, “The Life of Chuck” runs one hour, 40 minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Savings.
