Ion Sky, Flipside Slated at Dunkirk Pier

Ion Sky opens for Flipside at the Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series starting at 6 p.m. on the Dunkirk Pier.
Dunkirk’s Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series Dance Night will feature Ion Sky and Flipside today at the Dunkirk Pier. The concerts are presented by Dunkirk Festivals, APG, Van Buren Drive-In, National Grid, stage sponsor DFT Communications, Merritt Estate Winery and Piede Tents, LLC.
The free concert, sponsored by DFT Communications and INX International Ink Co., will start at 6 p.m. and end at 9:15 p.m.
Ion Sky is a local, Dunkirk four-piece band, originated in 2010 that performs a variety of music, including rock, country, pop and alternative music. The band was voted your 2023 and 2024 Chautauqua County Reader’s Choice Best of the Best, Best Local Band by The Post Journal and The Observer. Ion Sky was also voted a Favorite for Best Live Music of 2024 in the Buffalo News Best of 716.
Ion Sky is influenced by many popular artists of today including Cee-Lo-Green, Dua Lipa, Sugarland, Bruno Mars and Walk the Moon, while also sticking to the classics of Journey, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Benatar and the Rolling Stones.
Band members include Tara Graves (lead vocals/acoustic guitar/keys), Barry Edwards (lead guitar/vocals), Jack Pasquale (bass guitar/vocals) and Bradley Heath (drums/cajon/vocals).
Flipside formed in West Seneca almost 35 years ago and has been entertaining audiences of all ages for over three decades by performing a variety of musical genres and combining it with a high energy, audience interactive and uniquely entertaining show unmatched by others.
Their current lineup consists of front man Mark Christy (lead vocals, acoustic guitar and keyboards), John Lajoie (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Satkievich (bass guitar, vocals) and Davey Genau (drums, percussion and vocals).
Flipside has won awards in categories of best classic rock band, people’s choice awards and best pop rock band from the Buffalo music awards, People’s choice awards and Buffalo nightlife magazine’s music awards.
Guests are reminded to bring a chair. Food trucks and other vendors will be on site along with the city’s beverage tent. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace and surrounding harbor front businesses will also be open with food, drink and merchandise options.
