United Senior Citizens
The United Senior Citizens recently held their monthly luncheon meeting at the Fredonia Beaver Club with 40 members in attendance.
President Charles St. George opened the meeting by asking everyone to stand and with Mary Matteson leading the group singing “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag by St. George and invocation by Phyllis Laurito.
Once again, St. George gave notice that the August meeting will be his last one as president and is asking someone to step forward to assume the presidency.
This month’s winners of 50/50 drawings were: Nicholas Andin, Sandra Barone, Herb Centner, Tina Richthammer, Vicky Stelmack and Ken Woolstrom.
Birthdays for July were Andin, Elaine Frederickson, Woolstrom and, above all, America.
The president then acknowledged the callers for the July meeting who were Pat Ebert, Nancy Niebel, Mary Edwards, Peggy Pokoj, Dorothy Hilliker and Josephine Wierczynski.
St. George announced that the next luncheon meeting will be the annual indoor picnic and members will be notified with a telephone call from the following: Ebert, Edwards, Frederickson, Woolstrom, Hilliker, Pokoj and Wierczynski.
The menu will be the usual picnic food, such as grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian sausage and peppers, potato salad, baked beans, tossed mixed salad and watermelon. A discounted price of $5 is for members who have paid their 2016 dues.
St. George stated, due to health problems, he is retiring from being the president after 15 years. A discussion was held seeking someone to take over the helm of the United Senior Citizens, which have been in existence for 42 years. Mary Matteson came forward for the presidency and Evonne Hennebery as vice president, with Patricia Bradley staying on as treasurer.
In conclusion, Bradley gave the treasurer’s report.
Bingo was then hosted by Rosemary Mancuso, Laurito and Lucy Saeli.
