Collins Center Seniors

The Collins Center Seniors welcomed 38 new members at the February 24 meeting.

The motor coaches will depart from the parking lot behind the stores on Main Street in Gowanda at 8 a.m. on March 16. for “St. Patrick’s Day Show” at the Seneca Niagara Casino. SEATS AVAILABLE; cost is $59.

SEATS available on March 24 for “Cartwright’s Maple Tree Inn”. Enjoy maple syrup time at its best. Our first stop is Cuba Cheese; next we head to Angelica for a pancake lunch with lots of fresh maple syrup and spend the afternoon in the Village of Angelica Shops. Departure is 8:45 a.m.; cost is $69 and payment is due.

SEATS available April 8. for “Buffalo Art & More Art.. Our first stop will be the Buffalo History Museum, followed by lunch at Larkin Center’s Restaurant and a guided tour past Buffalo’s Public Art Trail featuring murals throughout the city.

SEATS available April 17. for “Memories,” a tribute to Barbra Streisand at the Rivera Theatre. Enjoy Barbra’s hits from “The Way We Were” and “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore.”

May 4, Terry Buchwald as “Elvis at delLago Casino” in the Vine Event Center. Cost is $69 and includes show tickets, $25 free play and a free lunch buffet.

May 22 “Patriotic Stars and Stripes” at Kleinhans Music Hall. Enjoy coffee and donuts before the Internationally renowned USO SHOW TROUPE spectacular.

Dunkirk Senior Center

The meetings scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Dunkirk Senior Center have been RESCHEDULED to Saturday, March 21.

There is an upcoming Easter Shopping/Broadway Market trip, Market in the Square trip on Tuesday, April 7 with sign-up in progress. Dinner will be at Chef’s Restaurant. Choices are spaghetti and meatballs or spaghetti-baked parmesan, soup or salad, bread and butter, coffee or tea and granola. Seats are still available. The cost is $55 per person. Details can be found in the January/February newsletter, available in the Senior Center office for members.

There will be a St. Patrick’s Day dinner on Saturday, March 14 at 12 p.m. at the Center. This will be a ham and cabbage dinner, with potatoes, carrots, rye bread and butter, beverages and assorted desserts. The cost is $7 per person. Registration begins Feb. 24. This event is for members only.

Membership renewal ($5 per year), dues for 2020 are being accepted. New members must be at least 50 years of age. In order to attend or participate in Center activities, your dues must be paid. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday all day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is located at 45 Cliffstar Court. United Senior Citizens

The next meeting of The United Seniors is Monday, March 9 at the Beaver Club, 64 Prospect St. in Fredonia. The menu will be as follows: lemon rosemary balsamic chicken quarters, vegetable medley, tossed salad,with homemade dressings, roasted red potatoes and cherry pie for dessert. Dues are due, if not already paid, $5, and $10 for the luncheon. All members welcomed, and encourage friends or family to join. Please send money to Evonne Hennebery, P.O. Thank you and hope to see everyone there. It’s fun to socialize, meet new friends and enjoy a great budget-friendly meal. Bingo games will follow the meeting.

Forestville Pioneer Social Club

The Forestville Pioneer Social Club will meet on Monday in the Forestville Municipal Building on Chestnut Street. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by the meeting at 1 p.m.

Grape Belt Seniors

Aerobics and Weights with Catherine on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9 a.m. Any cancellation of class will be posted on Catherine’s FB page, GrapeBelt Seniors FB page, and announced on WDOE.

All trips, extended as well as day trips, are open to the public; members and non-members. Fliers for upcoming 2020 trips are available at the Center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Trips are First Paid – First Reserved!

June 17: Yankees at Pittsburgh with Gateway6 Clipper Cruise on the Three River.

July 7: Niagara Casino Customer Appreciation. Includes $30 slot play and free lunch buffet.

July 15: Day in Cleveland. Luncheon cruise, West Side Market, Botanical Gardens, and Mitchell Ice Cream.

Aug. 30: Yankees in Cleveland. Trip is full but can go on Wait List for cancellations. Depart 9 a.m. Home 8 p.m.

Sept. 28: Corning Museum, with lunch, museum tour, and make our own glass pumpkin.

Oct. 14: Musical comedy at Station Dinner Theater. “Golden Senior Moments.” First stop at Fuhrman’s General Store and Cider Mill. Last stop at Connie’s Ice Cream.

Nov. 3: Niagara Casino Customer Appreciation.

Dec. 15: Shaw Festival, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Lunch at Prince of Wales. “Me and My Girl” at Royal George Theatre. Time for downtown. Proof of citizenship required.

Extended trips for 2020: Flyer is available for Treasures of Quebec by rail. Another bus has been added for this trip to Quebec. Bus #1 travels July 27 to July 31. Bus #2 travels July 29 to Aug. 2. Flyer is available for the Pacific Northwest trip Sept. 14 to Sept. 21. For May 20 to May 22, there will be a trip to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, which will include seeing Queen Esther at the Sight and Sound Theater, plus more! Flyer is available for this trip.

The March 2 meeting with David Wendt is cancelled. It will be rescheduled.

Sheridan Happy Seniors

The Sheridan Happy Seniors will have their first meeting of the year on March 13, after being off for the winter. It will be at the Silver Creek Senior Center on Route 5. The meeting will be at noon.

Collins 50 Plus Seniors

Sunday, March 1: Pickle Ball at 6 p.m., L.K. Painter Center gym.

Monday, March 2: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m., Painter Center gym.

Tuesday. March 3: Active Senior Aerobics with Kim at 9 a.m., Painter Center gym. Small fee.

Wednesday, March 4: Exercises with Pat at 10 a.m., Painter Center gym; Quilting with Florence at 10:30 a.m., Collins Library Community Room; Bowling at 1 p.m. at K&L Lanes in Gowanda. Small fee.

Thursday. March 5: Yoga at 10 a.m., L.K. Painter Center gym.

Friday: March 6: Percussion & Exercises with Kim, small fee; exercises with Pat at 10 a.m., Painter Center gym; Movie Day at 1 p.m. at the Collins Library. This month’s feature is a bio/drama starring Renee Zellweger. Popcorn will be served.

≤ The AARP Defensive Driving Class on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 is completely full. If you are signed up,check in at the L.K. Painter Community Center (2355 Main St., Collins) by 8:30 a.m.

CLASS BEGINS AT 9 a.m. SHARP !

≤ Join the Collins 50 Plus Seniors Friday, May 15 for their day trip to see the comedy dinner show “Don’t Blame The Chef.” This show will be presented at Yorkshire Hall in Corfu and includes a delicious lunch of roasted pork loin medallions and a fantastic dessert. Travel by coach bus, dinner, show, plus stops at Kutters Cheese, and Olivers Chocolates, all for only $82./$49 for Town of Collins residents. Flyers are available at the Collins Town Hall lobby.
